Frequently Asked Questions

Who Needs a Delimbinator?

The Chambers Delimbinator is designed and built for loggers who cut and process pulpwood.  The Delimbinator is effective in a wide variety of species.  Loggers using the Delimbinator to delimb pulpwood report significant increases in production.  The Delimbinator is more efficient and allows the logger to produce more with less wear and tear on loaders and skidders.

THE DELIMBINATOR HAS PROVEN EFFECTIVE IN MANY PULPWOOD SPECIES.

  • Pine (Red Pine, Loblolly Pine, Sand Pine, Jack Pine, Virginia Pine)
  • Black Spruce
  • White Spruce
  • Tamerack
  • Aspen
  • Balsam

Loggers who use the Delimbinator report a substantial increase in production and lower costs per ton.  The Delimbinator frees up skidders to focus on dragging wood to the loader. Loaders last longer and require less maintenance because they are not pushing and pulling the wood to delimb it.  The Delimbinator will make it possible to delimb a grapple full of trees in one smooth pull in just seconds.  No pushing and pulling on a few stems to delimb the wood.  One pull and the entire grapple full is delimbed and ready to go on the truck or in the pile.

The Delimbinator will eliminate delimbing as a choke point for your logging operation.

Will a Delimbinator delimb hardwood?

The Chambers Delimbinator is not designed to Delimb large hardwood trees.

The Delimbinator is effective in delimbing some ‘soft’ hardwood species such as Sweet Gum, Poplar, Aspen, Birch.  If you are interested in delimbing species other than those listed please contact the factory for more information.

How much does a deimbinator cost to operate?

The Delimbinator is extremely efficient to operate.  The Delimbinator features a remote control that is operated from the loader that allows for very efficient operation.  The chains in the Delimbinator are two different lengths.  This allows for chain rotation from the longer chains to shorter chains.  The Delimbinator is built from the ground up for efficiency.

The cost for fuel and chains for operating a Delimbinator is around $5 per 25-ton load in plantation pine.  Operational costs in other species may vary slightly but the Delimbinator is a very efficient method of delimbing.

What are the benefits of running a Delimbinator?

The Delimbinator offers many benefits over other delimbing methods for pulpwood.  Some of these benefits are:

  • No need for an extra loader to delimb wood
  • No more pushing and pulling, jerking and snatching.  Saves a tremendous amount of wear and tear on loader equipment and operators.  Our customers tell us the Delimbinator adds years to the service life of a loader and the loader experiences less down time for repair.
  • No need for the skidder to use a limbing gate.  The skidder can bring full grapple loads to the landing for delimbing and focus on dragging wood to the deck.  This is what skidders are designed to do.
  • Allows for increase in production over any other delimbing method.
